Euro Challenge Educational Competition

The Euro Challenge is an educational competition for 9th and 10th grade high school students to learn about the European Union (EU) and its single currency, the euro. Now in its 10th year, this program, aligned to the Common Core, introduces students of global studies, world history or European studies to economics, and offers a unique learning experience that moves them out of the classroom into the real world.

CNN Hero helps Harvard ES kick off IB Action Project

Last month (November), Razia Jan, founder of Razia’s Ray of Hope Foundation, visited Harvard Elementary School in Houston and spoke to students about the challanges many children their age face with regards to access to education. Razia and author Elizabeth Suneby, who wrote Razia’s Ray of Hope – One Girl’s Dream of an Education, inspired students to take action and raise money for the foundation in a variety of ways, including a read-a-thon.

IB Global Head of Recognition Will Present "The International Baccalaureate Edge" in Dallas

Alcuin School is pleased to announce the visit of Paul Sanders, Global Head of Recognition, International Baccalaureate® Organization. On September 30, 2014 at 6:30 PM at the Alcuin School Wyly Performing Arts Center, Mr. Sanders will present The International Baccalaureate Edge. As a world leader in education, Mr. Sanders works primarily with universities and governments. As such, he is uniquely qualified to show how the International Baccalaureate® (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) will create an edge for Alcuin students as they matriculate to university.

Wharton Dual Language Academy Wins First Place Award for Academic Excellence in Spanish!

This competition is organized by the Education Office of the Embassy of Spain in the United States and is sponsored by the Santander Shareholders in the United States of America in collaboration with the Cervantes Institute, Santillana Group, Anaya Group, and the Comillas Foundation. The award is given to schools in the USA that show excellence in Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) methodology using Spanish and English. Ms. Day, Principal, was presented with the award in Washington, D.C. on June 2, 2014.

Denton High School IB Wins $75,000 IB/Dell Grant

Denton High School has been selected as one of five schools who will receive a $75,000 grant to participate in the “Bridging the Equity Gap” Project presented by the International Baccalaureate/Michael & Susan Dell Foundation. This project, funded by the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, aims to increase the number of low-income students participating and succeeding in the IB Diploma Programme.
