TIBS is pleased to announce that we are creating a new partnership with EF Education First, one of the world’s leaders in international education. Through this partnership, TIBS will offer its members IB-recognized Category 3 workshops through immersive international study tours to Europe, Asia, and Latin America. TIBS and EF are looking for input from Texas IB educators to help us shape these programs and select the international destinations. Details on how you can participate and be eligible for a free place on our first study tour are below.

TIBS and EF believe that developing global competency is a priority for 21st century schools and that all educators must be global citizens. Professional Learning through immersive educational travel is the most direct way to develop international mindedness in educators and prepare them to bring the world to their students and take their students into the world.

EF has been working with the International Baccalaureate for a number of years to provide IB-recognized Category 3 workshops that have taken place in Peru, China, Japan, Spain, Costa Rica, Morocco, England and Ireland. Now TIBS is collaborating with EF to

provide IB educators with the opportunity to exchange ideas and practices with  educators from home and abroad, while exploring the destinations around the world.

Workshops will include educational visits to IB World Schools and visits to significant cultural and historical sites.  These unique blended workshops are open to all PYP, MP, and DP educators and school leaders and mix online content with an IB workshop leader facilitated tour.  Pre- and post-tour sessions help teachers find rewarding and innovative ways to implement international-mindedness in their classrooms and communities and prepare educators with foundational knowledge about a destination and specific-specific expertise.

"What a lifetime adventure traveling to China as a teacher who loves to see textbooks come alive! I was able to bring my students what I observed of Chinese culture and people, and how they live and learn. I shared my experiences with other teachers at my school and with my community. Now that I’ve been to China, I would love to know more about the Chinese builders who are building a steel plant in our community. There are so many things and ideas that can be taught to those who travel. I think traveling brings us to a higher level as humans who teach."
